HISTORY OF THE MOTORETTES

YAARAB MOTORETTES

The Motorettes were formed in 1957 by the ladies whose husbands were in the Big Motors, the motorcycle unit of the Motor Corps. Most, if not all, of the members of the Big Motors were police officers. Ruby Spinks husband was police chief at that time.

The charter member officers for the Motorettes were:

President: Fredia Troutman

Vice President: Evelyn Seagraves

Secretary: Mary Alice Smith

Treasurer: Ruby Spinks

The objective of the Motorettes is to congenially unite in fellowship and friendship those women accepted for membership and to support our husbands in parades and other Motor Corps actives and to have fun and good fellowship.

Since its beginning, the Motorettes has given a donation annually to the Greenville Shrine Hospital and support other charities during the year.

The Motorettes meet the first Saturday of each month except June, July and August. Those months are full of Shrine activities and parades.

The Motorettes have a Christmas party in December, a Sweetheart Dinner in February and a Summer Outing in August.

In 2007 the Motorettes will celebrate 50 years of dedication in supporting their husbands in the Motor Corps.
